    THE U.S. EMBASSY SEEKS Assistant Maintenance Team Lead (Vacancy number: Jerusalem-2021-39)

    FULL TIME POSITION, 80 HOURS/BI-WEEKLY
    Duty location: Jerusalem

    Managing, coordinating, planning & scheduling the daily maintenance and repair needs for the Embassy compound buildings and residences. A team leader of 7 highly specialized HVAC Technicians/ Electricians, and 6 multi-trade technical work force. Prepares Electrical/HVAC Engineering plans, designs, drawings, specifications, bill of materials and cost estimates, monitor and inspect conditions of government owned or leased buildings and contract work in progress. Conduct inspection surveys that include all the electrical, mechanical (HVAC), plumbing fixtures and appliances for potential residences. Works closely with the GSO Housing Coordinator, as well as General Services Office Housing and Warehouse staffs to see that all the Facilities maintenance conditions are completed. The incumbent is part of the Post's on-call Duty Maintenance roster that provides coverage for emergency service. Incumbent directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of progressively more responsible experience in operation and maintenance of building engineering services in large modern commercial or Government building is required. In addition to experience in maintenance of residential units and appliances is required.
    EDUCATION:
    Completion of secondary school is required.
    Completion of 3 years vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization as an Electrical or HVAC Technician Certification from host government institution is required.

    LANGUAGE: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English and Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing Arabic or Hebrew are required. (This may be tested)
    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must acquire class "C" driving license (at applicant's own expense) within the first six months of accepting the position. Failure to acquire the "C" class license within the specified time period will result in separation from the position.

    FULL TIME POSITION, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
    Duty Location: Tel Aviv

    Incumbent is one of two senior Locally Employed Staff economic advisors at U.S. Embassy Jerusalem/Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv. As such s/he maintains relationships with a wide range of contacts, to include senior government officials, private sector leaders, civil society, media, and other diplomatic missions. S/he produces daily analysis and updates on Israeli economic developments, that may cover issues such as macro-fiscal issues, energy technology, Israel-Palestinian economic cooperation, normalization, banking, counter-terrorism, financing and anti-money laundering, investment screening, socio-economic issues, transportation, civil aviation, telecommunications, cyber developments, and entrepreneurship and innovation. S/he is responsible to analyze key economic issues in Israel, draft well-argued papers and recommendations, and advise on economic developments impacting the Mission. Incumbent represents the Mission at conferences, seminars, and other outside events and may be called upon to deliver cleared U.S. government messages to mid-level Israeli contacts. Incumbent also attends Mission representational events, such as the July 4 reception and other appropriate events where s/he expands her contact network and ensures s/he introduces contacts to Economic Section staff and leadership and the Front Office, as appropriate. Incumbent serves as advisor to the Economic Counselor and the Deputy Economic Counselor on top-level economic issues in the country. Incumbent reports through the Deputy Economic Counselor to the Economic Counselor. At times, incumbent may be called upon to present his/her analysis directly to the Front Office and other senior U.S. and Israeli officials. Working together with Embassy colleagues from the U.S. Commercial Service, the Foreign Agricultural Service, the Palestinian Affairs Unit, and others, incumbent initiates and drafts cables, reports, and provides strategic counsel to the whole Economic Section.
    Requirements:
    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economic Finance, International Relations or any related field is required..
    EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: policy planning or research department of government office, financial institution, think tank, journalism, and academic institution; experience in social science, research press or diplomatic reporting; or analysis or operations in economics, business or international development or similar institution.
    LANGUAGE: English level IV (fluency) speaking/reading/writing and Hebrew level IV (fluency) speaking/reading/writing. (This will be tested.)
    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Expert knowledge of Israeli economy, economic and commercial institutions, and government bureaucracy, to include comprehensive understanding of internal trade and economic theory and practice as well as business practices, applicable laws and regulations, and policies. Extensive contacts with Israeli economic thinkers, business leaders, NGO representatives, and government officials both in Jerusalem and in local communities.
    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to draft precise, accurate and factual reports on tight deadlines. Ability to read and understand technical publications in English and Hebrew. Ability to provide rough translation of economic articles, documents, and correspondence from Hebrew to English.
    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
