We are looking for a Mechanical Team Lead who combines strong hands-on mechanical engineering expertise with leadership and people-management capabilities.
The role includes full responsibility for the mechanical domain, both from a technical and managerial perspective, throughout the entire product lifecycle - from concept and detailed design through production, assembly, and delivery.
You will oversee all mechanical aspects of the product while working closely with hardware, production, operations, and product teams.
In addition, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of mechanical engineers, prioritizing tasks, ensuring design quality, and meeting project milestones.
The Team Lead will lead complex mechanical designs, including:
Design from scratch alongside retrofitting and improving existing designs
Complex thermal management
Withstanding dynamic profiles (mainly vehicle-related)
Protection against EMI/EMC
Design for sealing
Professional leadership and mentoring of the mechanical team
Task planning, prioritization, and workload management
Improving design methodologies, processes, and best practices
Participating in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.

We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Mechanical Engineer to support our Silicon Photonics Engineering group in Haifa, Israel. Development occurs in a dynamic and challenging global multi-site environment. This role will report to the SiPh Engineering Manager in North Reading, MA, USA.



You will lead and/or participate in platform product development initiatives within our Silicon Photonics product team. In the SiPh Engineering group, we focus on developing state-of-the-art Optical Instruments for our Semiconductor Test Equipment products. This optical test equipment is essential for the massive expansion in AI that the industry is currently experiencing.



You will create innovative and sound technical solutions to complex engineering problems. You will also identify essential requirements and key technical risks. You will work closely with Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Optical Engineers to design solutions for New Product Introduction and High-Volume Manufacturing.



Develop detailed mechanical designs using 3D CAD, along with creating 2D fabrication drawings
Create Engineering Change & Release documents (ECN / ECO)
Participate in internal design reviews

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Silicon Photonics Engineering team in Haifa, Israel. This role supports the development of advanced micro-mechanical and macro-automation systems for photonics and semiconductor test equipment. You will collaborate globally, reporting to the SiPh Engineering Manager in North Reading, MA, USA.



In this role, you will design and develop precision mechanical systems that enable high-performance optical and semiconductor testing. Your work will directly support the rapid growth of AI and integrated photonics technologies.



Design micro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD tools such as NX, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
Develop micro-actuation hardware for photonic integrated circuit (PIC) optical connections, including fiber-to-chip and connector-to-receptacle interfaces
Engineer macro-automation solutions for integrated circuit (IC) handling from JEDEC trays
Model and characterize complex mechanical systems using FEA tools such as COMSOL or Ansys (preferred)
Use structural analysis and CAD tools to architect new modules and evaluate performance and limitations
Define and implement critical metrics and specifications aligned with product requirements and characterization methods
Influence product-level decisions through simulation, prototyping, and lab-based validation
Build custom unit tests and metrology hardware; perform hands-on measurements in the lab
Collaborate with suppliers to develop actuation modules, bring up test platforms, and conduct statistical analysis of performance and quality

Core Mission: Ensure rigorous quality assurance throughout the development lifecycle of hardware-based radar systems, driving toward zero defects in design, testing, and pre-production phases. Lead quality planning, risk mitigation, and compliance for multiple radar development projects running in parallel. Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute quality assurance plans tailored to hardware development (radar systems), focusing on materials, components, assembly, integration, and validation.
* Define hardware-specific KPIs/KGIs (e.g., First Pass Yield, Test Coverage, Defect Density in prototyping, Non-Conformance Rates)
* Act as quality authority in hardware-focused design reviews:
* SRR (System Requirements Review) – Ensure requirements are testable and meet standards.
* PDR (Preliminary Design Review) – Assess design maturity, component selection, and tolerancing.
* CDR (Critical Design Review) – Verify design readiness for prototyping, focusing on manufacturability, reliability, and safety.
* TRR (Test Readiness Review) – Validate test setups, instrumentation, and acceptance criteria.
* PRR (Production Readiness Review) – Ensure design is transition-ready with robust quality controls.
* Conduct hardware-focused FMEA on RF modules, power systems, structural elements, thermal management, and integration interfaces.
* Implement preventive/corrective actions to address identified failure modes early in development.
* Oversee design verification testing (DVT) and reliability testing (e.g., HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, EMI/EMC).
* Approve test plans, procedures, and reports for hardware performance and compliance.
* Chair Change Control Board (CCB) meetings for hardware changes (BOM revisions, component substitutions, drawing updates).
* Maintain traceability of requirements, designs, tests, and revisions.

* Support safety certification processes (functional safety for hardware subsystems) according to MIL- STD-882
* Lead cross-functional Root Cause Analysis (e.g., 8D, 5Why) for hardware non-conformances.

* Collaborate with suppliers on critical components (e.g., PCBA, antennas, enclosures) to ensure design intent is met and quality is built in.

Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) and the Quality Allocation Tasks for the program.
Customer complince - relate to NPI , Pre production , design errors
Perform Quarterly data analysis for QBR.
