We are seeking a Proactive Surveillance Analyst to join our proactive surveillance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of financial regulations and regulators (MiFid, Dodd Frank, REMIT, FINRA, SEC) and markets, with a background in banking and preferably trading, compliance or risk management. This role involves building and refining models to detect market abuse and other unethical behaviors by analysis of the text in eComms. The candidate should be comfortable with financial jargon and understand the roll of traders and bankers and how they can influence and abuse the markets. While programming skills are not required, the candidate should be proficient with tools such as PyCharm, Git, and Excel.
Key Responsibilities::
Develop and refine lexicon-based models to detect market abuse and unethical behaviors in financial institutions.
Analyze electronic communications (eComms) to identify suspicious content and generate alerts.
Understand and work with our complex models and fine details to enhance model accuracy.
Build presentations and graphs to effectively communicate results to clients.
Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide insights based on analysis.
Perform extensive data analysis, tagging relevant and irrelevant data, and updating lexicons.
Stay updated on financial regulations and market trends to enhance model accuracy.
Utilize tools like PyCharm, Git, and Excel for model development and data analysis.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Understanding of financial regulations and markets, with a background in trading, compliance or risk management. Knowledge must be wider than AML and KYC regulations MUST.
Familiarity with financial jargon and trading products.
Proficiency in using PyCharm, Git, and Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to understand, learn and work with complex models and fine details.
Experience in building presentations and graphs to communicate results to clients.
Comfortable with extensive data analysis and tagging.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in compliance or surveillance within the financial industry.
Knowledge of market abuse detection techniques and ethical issues in financial institutions.
Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets.
