What you will be doing
Lead a team of 68 engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support in their professional development and daily work.
Take ownership of the teams delivery and execution, from planning and prioritization to quality and production stability.
Remain hands-on and contribute to the codebase when needed, especially in complex or high-impact areas.
Design highly available, mission-critical microservices and APIs.
Architect and implement scalable data pipelines that integrate with multiple internal and external data sources.
Drive the development of internal tools, campaign automation systems, dashboards, and reports to empower end users.
Promote and implement engineering best practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment.
Collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders to shape solutions from idea to delivery.

What you will be doing
Build and own the infrastructure and services required for processing and storing data from a wide variety of sources, including mobile apps and internal/external data producers.
Design and build processes to integrate a wide range of edge systems across multiple cloud providers and handheld platforms reliably.
Assist data consumers across our company in defining requirements and refining existing processes using a wide variety of tools.
Define and own the systems and processes that deliver data to the data warehouse, while maintaining these systems and the warehouse itself.
Identify bottlenecks in internal data processes and resolve them by automating workflows, optimizing data delivery and storage, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.
Integrate new tools and solutions to empower the companys data consumers and help assimilate them effectively.

Our ML Platform team is responsible for building our companys ML serving platform, which hosts all of the companys ML and Gen AI models. Our goal is to create streamlined processes to bring functional research code and AI models to production grade systems, where millions of our apps users enjoy this magic.
Your day-to-day job will involve
Lead the design and evolution of our ML Platform, partnering closely with DevOps, research, and product engineering teams to ensure it meets the current and future needs of our company.
Architect and implement reliable, scalable, and high-performance services that power the ML and GenAI experiences across our suite of products.
Drive technical strategy and roadmap for the platform, identifying opportunities for innovation, optimization, and automation.
Collaborate across teams to define platform capabilities and influence infrastructure direction based on product and organizational goals.
Mentor and guide engineers in the team, promoting a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Serve as a key technical leader in cross-functional initiatives, helping align teams on architecture, best practices, and long-term vision.

The Role:
We are looking for a backend engineer who can design, build, and operate highly reliable Node.js services on AWS that enable generative?AI capabilities across our products and internal workflows. You will create scalable APIs, data pipelines, and serverless architectures that integrate large?language?model (LLM) services such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, and open?source models, enabling teams to safely and efficiently leverage generative AI.

Who You Are:

* You have experience building Retrieval?Augmented Generation (RAG) systems or knowledge?base chatbots.
* You're Hands?on with vector databases such as Pinecone, Chroma, or pgvector on Postgres/Aurora.
* Have AWS certification (Developer, Solutions Architect, or Machine Learning Specialty).
* Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, New Relic) and cost?optimization strategies for AI workloads.
* Background in microservices, domain?driven design, or event?sourcing patterns.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:

* Design and implement REST/GraphQL APIs in Node.js/TypeScript to serve generative?AI features such as chat, summarization, and content generation.
* Build and maintain AWS?native architectures using Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, and Step Functions.
* Integrate and orchestrate LLM services (Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, self?hosted models) and vector databases (Amazon Aurora pgvector, Pinecone, Chroma) to power Retrieval?Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
* Create secure, observable, and cost?efficient infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform) and automate CI/CD with GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline.
* Implement monitoring, tracing, and logging (CloudWatch, X?Ray, OpenTelemetry) to track latency, cost, and output quality of AI endpoints.
* Collaborate with ML engineers, product managers, and front?end teams in agile sprints; participate in design reviews and knowledge?sharing sessions.
* Establish best practices for prompt engineering, model evaluation, and data governance to ensure responsible AI usage.
