A leading technology company providing cloud-based customer experience solutions is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its engineering team. This is a 6-month temporary position (maternity leave replacement) focused on building scalable backend systems, developing high-impact features, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools, especially Claude Code, as part of the daily engineering workflow.
Responsibilities:
Develop backend features using Java, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
Use AI coding tools for planning, development, code review, and improving engineering workflows.
Design technical solutions, build REST APIs, and work with relational databases.
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum processes.
Promote best practices for validating and improving AI-generated code.
Requirements: B.Sc. in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent.
3+ years of Backend development experience.
Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate.
Experience with relational databases and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding agents.
Experience working on large-scale production systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and high-level English.
Nice to Have:
Experience with AWS.
Open-source contributions or experience with distributed systems.
