Wireless Network Engineer (Wi‑Fi, Cellular, IP Networking, Roaming)
The Wireless Network Engineer supports the design, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of wireless connectivity systems across Wi‑Fi, cellular (4G/5G), cellular data roaming (IPX/GRX), and IP‑based networks. This role is ideal for someone early in their networking career who is eager to grow into advanced wireless engineering, RF optimization, roaming technologies, and carrier‑grade mobility systems.
Key Responsibilities
Wireless (Wi‑Fi, Cellular & Roaming)
Configure, deploy, and maintain Wi‑Fi networks (APs, controllers, authentication, RF tuning).
Support integration and testing of cellular connectivity solutions (LTE/5G routers, modems, SIM/eSIM management, private cellular).
Assist with cellular data roaming environments, including:
IPX/GRX connectivity
GSMA standards and roaming guidelines
ITU numbering and signaling frameworks
Roaming partner onboarding, testing, and troubleshooting
Perform RF troubleshooting, signal analysis, and coverage validation using standard tools.
Monitor wireless and roaming performance, identify issues, and escalate complex problems to senior engineers.
IP Networking
Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 networking (VLANs, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS).
Support network security configurations (firewalls, VPNs, IPsec tunnels).
Assist in maintaining network documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards.
Participate in network monitoring, alert triage, and incident response.
Operations & Support
Provide hands‑on support for lab setups, field deployments, and customer pilots.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (DevOps, IT, Product) to validate new features and network changes.
Contribute to testing plans, device certifications, roaming tests, and performance benchmarking.
Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and reports.
Requirements: ~3 years of experience in networking, wireless engineering, or related technical roles.
Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, NAT).
Familiarity with Wi‑Fi technologies (802.11 standards, RF basics, WPA2/3).
Exposure to cellular technologies (LTE/5G concepts, SIM/eSIM, APN configuration).
Basic understanding of cellular roaming concepts (IPX, GRX, GSMA standards, signaling flows).
Experience with network tools (Wireshark, iperf, ping/traceroute, spectrum analyzers).
Basic Linux command‑line skills.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, CWNA, or equivalent.
Experience with cloud‑managed networking platforms (Meraki, Aruba Central, Mist, etc.).
Familiarity with private LTE/5G, CBRS, or carrier‑grade wireless systems.
Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation.
Understanding of network monitoring systems (SNMP, NetFlow, Grafana, Prometheus).
Exposure to roaming testing, signaling analysis, or inter‑operator connectivity.
This position is open to all candidates.
