As a Medical Advisor in the Cardio Vascular therapeutic area, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the performance of AstraZeneca's brands. You will be at the forefront of building scientific partnerships with Key External Experts (KEE) and healthcare professionals, driving strategic and educational medical affairs projects, and providing essential medical input to marketing, sales, and market access teams. This dynamic role combines office-based work with significant field presence, allowing you to continuously build robust scientific expertise and contribute to the medical therapeutic area strategy.
Accountabilities:
Conduct scientific exchange and collect customer insights:
- Stay up-to-date in TA knowledge through active monitoring of scientific literature, congress attendance, and interactions with Key External Experts (KEE).
- Lead pre-launch medical strategy and initiatives to address current gaps.
- Discuss key data sets with experts to identify patient pathways and treatment realities.
- Build relationships with experts for advocacy development.
- Brief speakers for scientific events.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for information about unapproved AstraZeneca products or uses.
- Continuously improve impactful communication skills.
- Interact with other Medical Advisors/MSLs and MAMs to exchange best practices.
Deliver Key medical leadership into the brand strategy:
- Work in strategic partnership with Marketing and Market Access Department.
- Provide high-quality scientific and medical input in Brand Teams and strategic projects.
- Review and approve promotional material with thorough understanding of standards.
- Develop and execute medical affairs projects according to budget and timelines.
- Coach and support MSLs to ensure development and execution of MSL Action Plans.
Maintain top-notch robust scientific and medical expertise:
- Keep track of relevant scientific literature in the TA.
- Attend international and national scientific congresses.
- Engage with KEE in the TA.
- Ensure excellent up-to-date scientific knowledge among internal colleagues.
- Support Clinical operations in site selection.
Manage scientific partnerships with KEE:
- Manage Externally Sponsored Research.
- Follow-up on grants/chairs/scientific sponsorings with KEE.
- Organize and lead meetings with KEE for input on data sets or projects.
Be compliant:
- Successfully complete all training requirements.
- Comply with external regulations & internal policies.
Requirements: 1. MD, DVM, PharmD, PhD, DMD
2. Significant experience with searching, handling, assimilating, synthesizing, reporting, and presenting scientific data in healthcare
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills
4. Initiative-taking and proactive while conscious of compliance
5. Embrace medical integrity and ethical balance
6. Strategic thinking and experience in leading pre-launch
