As a Senior Optical Design Engineer, you will lead the development of ultra-compact, high-precision micro-optical systems for cutting-edge medical devices. You will transform novel optical concepts into manufacturable designs, driving innovation from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop optical systems and components for medical devices.
Conduct simulations, tolerance analyses, and experimental validations to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers-to integrate optical systems into complete product platforms.
Develop and implement optical testing strategies to validate system performance and reliability.
Analyse data from experiments and prototypes to refine and optimize optical designs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols.
Document design processes, test results, and technical findings, and share insights to support innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements: 8+ years of relevant industry experience
MSc or PhD in physics, optical sciences and/or equivalent engineering field
Experience with at least one commercial optics simulation tools such as Zemax, Code V, Tracepro or equivalent.
Programming experience using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
Familiarity with the design, simulation, optimization, sensitivity and tolerance analysis of complex free space optical systems
Strong analytical and communication skills.
