We are looking for a real expert to my team. Someone who can be a mentor to all other backend engineers in my team and also in other teams in the office. Someone wholl jump head first into our spaghetti Ruby monolith and will help me cut it out into little pieces, extract and bring us into a new era of Go-based services and fast, reliable APIs. I need you to be bold, courageous, accountable and with lots of proactive will to bring innovation. Ill offer real partnership and enablement at all functions.


What Youll Do?

Be a Central Figure in the Team - Serve as the go-to expert on everything related to the teams services and infrastructure. Work closely with product managers. Learn and be able to reason about the existing code base on demand, deriving insights quickly and managing context switches effectively.

Deliver Solutions with Impact & Efficiency - Stay focused on business goals and customer delight. Ensure we deliver features that move the needle and are implemented efficiently and iteratively.

Maintain High Code Quality & Architecture - Collaborate with developers to uphold high coding standards and work with our architects forum to ensure solutions are scalable and aligned with our platform vision. Utilize code generation tools for a larger impact.

Drive Innovation - Identify areas for improvement and propose meaningful enhancements. Acknowledge customer feedback and incorporate your ideas to refine our solutions.

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Exchange Engine team at our company, you will be a driving force behind the core systems of our massive mobile advertising platform. You will tackle complex architectural challenges where every millisecond counts, building real-time, highly concurrent systems that process millions of requests per minute. In this position, your impact extends beyond feature implementation; you will take charge of major initiatives, architect core systems, and raise the bar for engineering excellence across the entire team.

Key Responsibilities
Architectural Design & Execution: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of complex, scalable, and highly available backend services for our real-time ad exchange. Architect systems with a focus on long-term maintainability, ensuring that large-scale changes and migrations are predictable and low-risk.

Performance Optimization: Profile, tune, and optimize system performance to ensure ultra-low latency and high throughput under massive concurrent loads.

Technical Mentorship: Act as a technical multiplier by mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, conducting rigorous code reviews, shaping technical standards, and promoting software engineering best practices.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate directly with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other engineering squads to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions and to understand the revenue journey, ensuring technical decisions directly support market competitiveness and platform growth.

Production Excellence: Own the lifecycle of your services in production. Implement advanced monitoring, alerting, and observability to troubleshoot and resolve deep-system production incidents.

Infrastructure Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps to optimize our deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, GCP).

AI-Driven Engineering: Leverage modern AI coding assistants and agentic tools to accelerate development velocity, automate routine tasks, and free up cognitive load for complex architectural challenges.

What you'll do:
Build the surfaces agents call directly: API-first account provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, scoped credentials, and agent-level identity and attribution.
Own our MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and an agent-first CLI - let coding agents and LLMs discover and invoke our reliably, engineered for agentic callers: token-efficient tool schemas, machine-parseable output, and loud, actionable failures instead of silent ones.
Harden the agent media path - make upload and core media operations reliable for non-human callers, eliminating the ambiguity and silent-failure modes that cause agents to drop off mid-task.
Make agent behavior measurable - partner on the instrumentation, signals, and attribution that tell us whether agents are succeeding.
Work across a polyglot backend - Node.js/TypeScript for the agent tooling layer, with Ruby/Rails and Go in the core platform.
Ship, measure, iterate - prototype quickly, dogfood the experience, and represent the agent's perspective in every design decision. Work closely with Product, Ecosystem, and Discoverability across the AX team.

The Accounts team owns some of the most critical infrastructure at the core of our platform.
We are responsible for identity, access, and account management across all our products - from authentication and fine-grained authorization to account provisioning and enterprise integrations.

Our work ensures secure and scalable access control, supports complex enterprise use cases, and powers internal systems relied upon by every team in the company. We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Platform, and Security to deliver reliable and high-impact solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Backend Engineer for our new generation Digital Vault (DV) SaaS product. You will be responsible for building core SaaS offerings on top of an AWS serverless stack using Python, CDK, and other cloud technologies. You will work with a collaborative team of developers, architects, DevOps, and QA to produce top-notch services from planning through production.
