We are looking for a Board Design team lead to lead the development of advanced, multidisciplinary systems in the field of loitering munitions.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that combines a strong system -level perspective with deep technical expertise in electronic hardware and PCB design. The position covers the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through qualification and transition to serial production.
The role requires close collaboration with system engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-performance electronic solutions that comply with stringent military and aeronautical standards.
The Hardware Engineer team lead reports directly to the Chief R&D and Engineering Officer and is expected to provide technological leadership while working closely with system engineering, software, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end hardware development of complex electronic subsystems, with a strong focus on schematic design, PCB development, and board bring-up.
Own the complete electronic development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture definition through detailed design, PCB layout reviews, prototyping, integration, testing, qualification, and transition to serial production.
Act as the technical focal point for electronic hardware, across multiple programs, providing design leadership, guidance, and support for key technical decisions.
Plan, perform, and support hardware verification and validation activities, including design reviews, integration testing, field tests, environmental testing, and qualification testing.
Work closely with system engineers to ensure full alignment between system requirements and electronic design solutions.
Collaborate with software, manufacturing, QA, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability, testability, reliability, and cost targets.
Define, implement, and maintain engineering best practices for hardware design, documentation, configuration control, and version management.
Support failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis throughout development and production phases.
Provide technical input to feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost evaluations for new developments and proposals.
Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies in electronic design and production.
Addressing EMI/EMC challenges and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering - mandatory (M.Sc. is an advantage).
7+ years of hands-on experience in hardware engineering for complex, multidisciplinary systems, preferably within the defense industry.
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience leading technical teams.
Strong expertise in electronic hardware development, including schematic design, PCB layout, board bring-up, integration, debugging, and validation.
Experience in developing high reliability, ruggedized electronic systems operating under environmental constraints such as vibration, temperature, and EMI/EMC.
Proficiency with OrCAD and Allegro design tools - mandatory; familiarity with LTspice and PSpice - advantage.
Hands-on experience with common communication interfaces, including I2C, SPI, UART, PCI, and Ethernet.
Experience in power board design, military-grade systems, aeronautical platforms, or airborne systems - advantage.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead hardware development tasks from concept through implementation and delivery; experience in technical leadership or mentoring is an advantage.
