Were looking for an experienced, hands-on Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) Team Leader to head our core DBRE team. In this role, youll be responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of our large-scale database infrastructure and data platforms, while leading and mentoring a team of DBREs.
Youll bring together strong technical expertise and people leadership, defining the vision and standards for database reliability, guiding architectural and system design decisions, and driving operational excellence across our production environments.
In your day-to-day, you will:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DBREs, providing technical guidance and career development
Define and drive the teams roadmap for database reliability, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency
Own hundreds of production database clusters (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.) at petabyte scale on Cloud platform
Oversee the design and optimization of data models, schemas, and database access patterns used by core services
Establish and promote best practices, standards, and methodologies for database design, operations, observability, and incident management
Collaborate with other Infra, Security, FinOps, and R&D teams to shape our databases strategy and long-term technology direction
Encourage the use of AI and ML-driven tools and analytics for anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, performance optimization and team dev velocity
Promote automation in database provisioning, configuration, and operations.

We are looking for a DBA Team Lead to own and lead our database domain.
This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, while serving as the technical authority for all the databases' reliability, performance, and architecture, and across the organization.

Youll work closely with engineering, SRE, Devops and support teams, dealing with massive-scale data systems in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the database domain end-to-end, including architecture, performance, scalability, monitoring, migrations of databases such as Neo4j, PostgreSQL, and Redis in the AWS environments for optimal performance, cost efficiency, and overall Stability.
Manage and mentor DBA team members, including technical guidance, prioritization, and professional development.
Support critical production flows and participate in incident analysis and prevention.
Improve visibility and observability using tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Write and maintain scripts for automation and operational tasks.

Drive performance tuning and optimization - query analysis, index strategies, configuration tuning, and resource optimization across all database engines.
Establish operational practices - backup/recovery procedures, disaster recovery, replication strategies, and failover automation.
Plan and execute capacity management - monitoring growth, forecasting needs, and scaling databases ahead of demand.
Lead incident response for database issues - troubleshooting, resolution, and post-incident improvements.
Enable new capabilities - evaluating, deploying, and operating new database technologies including vector databases for AI workloads.
Partner with Data Platform, Data Engineering, Engineering, and Security teams to align database operations with platform needs.
Define and uphold database SLAs that support retrieval paths, feature stores, and embedding durability; coordinate on schema evolution, partitioning, and safe replay/backfills.
Integrate with catalog and lineage systems - surfacing ownership, change history, and impact analysis for critical datasets and collections.
Collaborate with Data Platform, Data Engineering, Engineering, Security, Product, AI/ML, Data Science, and Analytics to prioritize performance, durability, and evolution of data stores across workloads.
