We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Quality Engineer (SQE) to support the development and assurance of defence radar software systems in compliance with military, NATO, and cybersecurity standards. This role is critical to ensuring software reliability, safety, and compliance across the full lifecycle of mission-critical radar systems. The SQE will be responsible for quality planning, documentation, process control, verification activities, and support for internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and enforce a comprehensive Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP) aligned with MIL-STD-498, NATO AQAP-2210, and relevant internal policies.
Define and implement a Software Management Plan (SMP) to govern all phases of the SDLC, including scheduling, risk mitigation, deliverables tracking, and quality gates.
Develop and manage a Software Configuration Management Plan (SCMP) for full traceability, baseline control, and secure software handling (including classified systems).
Review and verify Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) for clarity, completeness, consistency, and testability, with a focus on traceability to higher-level system requirements.
Work with system safety teams to create a Software Safety Plan, identifying software contributions to system-level hazards per MIL-STD-882E, IEC 61508, or NATO STANAG safety policies.
Create and manage Verification and Validation (V&V) Test Plans, including functional, interface, integration, performance, and regression testing for radar-specific capabilities (e.g., real-time signal processing, threat classification).
Prepare and control Software Version Description Documents (VDD) for each release to ensure compliance with configuration and delivery standards.
Review and obtain approval for Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables such as SQAP, SRS, VDD, and V&V test results per contract terms.
Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR), technical audits (e.g., DCMA), and quality assessments.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, including NIST SP 800-53, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and NATO Information Assurance (IA) policies as they apply to software quality and secure development.
Support vulnerability assessment and patch tracking processes for embedded and operational radar software environments.
Enforce coding, documentation, and quality standards for software in mission-critical, real-time, and secure environments.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of software QA experience in defense, aerospace, or other regulated, safety-critical domains.
Solid understanding of V-Model, Waterfall, or hybrid development models used in military-grade software.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-498, IEEE/EIA 12207, or DO-178C.
Experience with QA and ALM tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Polarion, JIRA, HP ALM).
Eligible for security clearance; knowledge of ITAR, export control, and secure software practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on radar software (ground-based, airborne, naval), including real-time systems, embedded control, or signal processing.
Working knowledge of NATO AQAP standards (e.g., AQAP-2210, AQAP-2310) and NATO STANAG software documentation.
Experience implementing cybersecurity controls as per NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, CMMC, or ISO/IEC 27001 within a software development or QA role.
Certification in Software Quality Assurance (e.g., ASQ CSQE) or Configuration Management.
Familiarity with secure DevOps pipelines, static code analysis, and secure coding practices for C/C++, Ada, or real-time OS environments.
This position is open to all candidates.
