We're looking for an Automation Engineer to join the Agen team. You'll own our testing infrastructure and help us move fast without breaking things. This is a hands-on role where you'll design, build, and maintain automated testing across our entire stack.
What You'll Do:
Test Automation (60%)
Build and maintain Playwright test suites for our MCP Gateway
Write integration tests for OAuth flows, policy enforcement, and API proxying
Create automated E2E tests for our React-based admin portal and marketplace
Develop contract tests for our MCP protocol implementations
Build performance/load testing infrastructure for concurrent AI agent connections
CI/CD & Infrastructure (25%)
Extend and maintain our GitHub Actions workflows for faster, more reliable deployments
Set up test environments that mirror production (AWS, MongoDB, MySQL)
Build automated smoke tests for multi-region deployments (US, EU, AU, CA, UK)
Create alerting and monitoring for test failures and regressions
Quality Advocacy (15%)
Partner with developers to write testable code from the start
Review PRs with a testing mindset - catch what automated tests might miss
Document testing patterns and best practices for the team
Identify gaps in test coverage and prioritize what to automate next
Requirements: 2-4 years of experience in QA automation, test engineering, or similar roles
Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript - our entire stack is TS
Experience with Playwright or similar E2E testing frameworks
Familiarity with REST API testing (Postman, supertest, or similar)
Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows
Strong debugging skills - you can trace a flaky test to its root cause
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC flows - we do a lot of authentication testing
Experience testing multi-tenant SaaS applications
Knowledge of Docker and containerized testing environments
Exposure to AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, or Snowflake
Familiarity with load testing tools (k6, Artillery, Locust)
Experience with mobile testing (iOS / Android)
Understanding of AI/LLM applications - not required, but you'll pick it up fast
