We are establishing a new backend group that will take full ownership of a core application area.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer who will lead the backend effort end-to-end - from initial architecture and technology choices, through implementation and scaling, and into long-term ownership and evolution.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will design, build, and own production systems, work closely with multiple teams, influence product direction, and set the technical bar for the group.
We embrace an agile mindset - you should be comfortable with context switching, handling multiple priorities, and adapting quickly to changing requirements.
Responsibilities:
Take full ownership of the backend architecture for a major application area
Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems
Lead technical design and decision-making, including technology and architecture choices
Work closely with product, frontend, platform, and other backend teams
Participate in product vision discussions, brainstorming, and planning sessions
Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions
Write high-quality, production-grade code
Drive debugging and root-cause analysis of complex production issues
Ensure best practices in performance, reliability, security, and observability
Mentor and technically guide other backend engineers as the group grows

As a Senior or Principal Software Engineer in Cortex Cloud, you will contribute to the development and scaling of cloud-native security solutions for enterprise organizations. This role involves working within an established team to evolve a high-traffic product, with a focus on refining architecture, optimizing the technology stack, and maintaining engineering standards.
Your responsibilities include writing reliable code, influencing product direction, and designing distributed systems. You will be expected to make technical decisions that impact the long-term stability and performance of cloud workload protection services.
AI Integration & Engineering Workflow
A core component of our development process is the use of AI. Rather than basic code completion, we integrate AI assistants as functional components of our workflow. Our team utilizes a multi-agent AI system (IDEX/ProDex) that assists across the development lifecycle: from planning and architecture to code analysis and security reviews.
In this role, you will:
Work with AI Tools:Utilize platforms such asGemini, Claude, and Cursorfor tasks beyond code generation, including root-cause analysis, system design reviews, and architectural assessment.
Develop AI-Augmented Workflows:Help refine how AI is integrated into the SDLC, including the orchestration of agents and the development of internal tools that extend AI capabilities across our codebase.
Maintain Quality Standards:While AI assists in increasing velocity, you are responsible for the technical output. This includes critical review of all generated code and ensuring that AI-assisted work aligns with our architectural requirements and security benchmarks.
Interact with Specialized Agents:Coordinate with AI agents (Product, Architecture, Security) that operate on shared context to assist in managing complex engineering tasks.

As a Backend Software Engineering, your job responsibilities will include:
Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow by pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high-quality code.
Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.
Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably.
Critically evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
Build new and exciting components in an ever-growing and evolving market technology to provide scale and efficiency.
Develop high-quality, production-ready code that can be used by millions of users of our cloud platform.
Make design decisions on the basis of performance, scalability, and future expansion.
Work in a Hybrid Engineering model and contribute to all phases of SDLC including design, implementation, code reviews, automation, and testing of the features.
Build efficient components/algorithms on a microservice multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
Code review, mentoring junior engineers, and providing technical guidance to the team (depending on the seniority level).

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cortex Platform Application team, you will be a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and operating critical backend platform services used across Cortex. This role is for an engineer who can combine deep platform/backend expertise with strong ownership, practical execution, and cross-team influence. You will help build scalable and reliable services, guide technical decisions, improve engineering methods, mentor engineers, and raise the quality of how the team designs, ships, documents, tests, and operates its systems. The team owns a broad set of platform capabilities, including areas such as application configuration, dashboards and reporting infrastructure, metrics, multi-tenant and MSSP infrastructure, log forwarding, notifications, auditing, access and permission engines, filtering and querying infrastructure, and other shared application platform domains. We are looking for someone who is not only strong technically, but also enjoys joining a high-performing team, taking ownership from within, and helping turn strong execution into repeatable engineering practice. Identify gaps in systems, processes, and ownership, and lead improvements without adding unnecessary process or friction.
