In this role you'll:
Build core platform services that support all our company development teams across web, mobile, and backend systems
Design and maintain robust APIs for distributed microservices architecture using TypeScript, with Rust experience as a major plus
Collaborate with staff engineers and tech leads to establish platform standards, patterns, and best practices across the engineering organization
Own service stability and communication between systems, implementing both synchronous and asynchronous patterns at scale
Drive developer efficiency initiatives by creating tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that eliminate friction for product teams
Work hands-on with AWS infrastructure including Kafka, RabbitMQ, EKS, SQS, Lambda, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi
Partner closely with DevOps teams to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and scaling of platform services.

Elevate test & validation infrastructure - build the automation, tooling, and CI/CD systems that let engineering ship fast without breaking things, and that make quality and reliability measurable.
Set technical direction - make architecture decisions with company-wide impact, drive design reviews, and establish engineering standards and best practices.
Mentor and multiply - level up other engineers technically, and help shape a fast, high-ownership engineering culture as the team grows.
Lead with AI-native workflows - use AI-assisted development tools daily to move faster without sacrificing architectural quality, and champion their adoption across the team.

Develop and maintain Python-based data pipelines that ingest, process, and transform large-scale OpenStreetMap (OSM) and other geospatial datasets.
Model, store, and query complex geospatial data using PostgreSQL and PostGIS, including road topology, zones, polygons, points, and other business-critical spatial entities.
Optimize database schemas, spatial indexes, and queries to efficiently handle large datasets and high-throughput workloads.
Build and maintain backend services and APIs that expose geospatial and mapping data to other backend services, frontend applications, and data consumers.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the core backend team and own foundational services used across the platform. The role is focused on production-grade backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, reliability, and clean, maintainable design.
