What you'll do:

Design & Scale Core Pipelines: Architect, implement, and deploy our complex, highly-scalable data processing pipeline focused on analyzing massive amounts of data.
Tackle Diverse Data Challenges: Work hands-on with vast construction data-ranging from scheduling and BIM to video processing and 3D model analysis. Architect and integrate various Computer Vision and data processing algorithms into a robust, cloud-based production environment to generate unique insights.
Ensure Performance: Maintain a relentless focus on performance, reliability, and scalability as you process data from real-world construction sites globally.
Tech Stack Focus: Develop primarily using Python in a modern cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
Advanced AI Integration: "Skilled in pushing AI tools to the next level- moving from simple chat interfaces to building autonomous scripts, agents, or custom workflows that optimize system performance and reliability.

As a Backend Engineer, you build the scalable, resilient engine that powers the platform. Your mission is to design and implement high-performance services that handle massive scale, ensuring data integrity and system reliability for thousands of brands. Working within a product team, you will translate complex business logic into robust architectural solutions, ensuring that our infrastructure can scale as fast as our customers do.

Key Responsibilities

Distributed Systems Design: Design and build microservices and event-driven architectures that are resilient, scalable, and maintainable. You will make critical decisions on synchronous vs. asynchronous communication and data consistency.
Data Mastery: Manage the lifecycle of data across our platform. You will design efficient database schemas (SQL & NoSQL) and optimize query performance to handle high-throughput workloads.
Operational Excellence: Embrace the You Build It, You Run It philosophy. You will own your services in production, implementing observability (logging, tracing, metrics) to detect issues before our customers do.
API Craftsmanship: Build clean, secure, and well-documented APIs (REST/GraphQL) that serve as the contract between our backend services and the frontend experience.

In this role you'll:
Build core platform services that support all development teams across web, mobile, and backend systems
Design and maintain robust APIs for distributed microservices architecture using TypeScript, with Rust experience as a major plus
Collaborate with staff engineers and tech leads to establish platform standards, patterns, and best practices across the engineering organization
Own service stability and communication between systems, implementing both synchronous and asynchronous patterns at scale
Drive developer efficiency initiatives by creating tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that eliminate friction for product teams
Work hands-on with AWS infrastructure including Kafka, RabbitMQ, EKS, SQS, Lambda, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi
Partner closely with DevOps teams to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and scaling of platform services
