This is an on-site student position based at our production site, with an expected presence of 2 to 3 days per week in the office and on the production floor. The role reports directly to the Production Floor Manager and works closely with operations and cross-functional partners. You will support improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes, labor efficiency, and standard work. You will also gain exposure to the Medtronic Performance System (MPS), Medtronics operational excellence framework used to drive continuous improvement, problem solving, and sustainable performance across the business.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Support the Production Floor Manager in driving OpEx initiatives across the production floor
Observe, map, and analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve flow, productivity, and labor efficiency
Use structured problem-solving methods such as A3, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), and Kaizen to support improvement projects
Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends, losses, and opportunities for process optimization
Help develop and improve standard work, visual management, and process documentation
Partner with production, quality, and engineering teams to support implementation and follow-up of improvement actions
Track project progress and summarize findings, recommendations, and results for site stakeholders

Requirements: Required Knowledge and Experience:
Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, 3rd or 4th year
Strong interest in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and data-based problem solving
Basic knowledge of OpEx tools and methods, including A3, DMAIC, and Kaizen
Good analytical skills with the ability to organize data and draw practical conclusions
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams
Availability to work on site 2 to 3 days per week
