We are looking for a highly motivated, mid-to-senior level Electro-Optical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering organization. In this role, you will be the optical cornerstone of a multi-disciplinary team, driving the development of next-generation electro-optical modules that define our future products.
You will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, sitting at the critical intersection of core optics, testing methodologies, mechanical engineering, and high-volume manufacturing. This role requires a unique blend of deep optical design intuition, hands-on lab expertise, and the leadership to drive global suppliers. Your work will directly impact millions of users globally by enabling breakthrough optical technologies.
If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of physics, spending time in the lab to prove your concepts, and partnering with top-tier global vendors to bring elegant designs to mass production, we want to hear from you.
Lead optical architecture and development of compact electro-optical modules, including simulations (Zemax, CodeV, LightTools) for imaging, sensing, and system performance.
Define test plans, characterization methodologies, and calibration protocols for both R&D and factory environments.
Own bench-level validation - build custom test setups and characterize prototypes across key optical metrics (MTF, stray light, radiometric efficiency).
Serve as the primary technical contact for global optical suppliers and CMs, with regular travel to oversee factory bring-up, qualify production lines, and drive failure analysis.
Produce high-quality technical documentation, including component specs, SOPs, FA reports, and executive summaries.
Collaborate cross-functionally with ME, EE, and Firmware teams to integrate optical modules within thermal, structural, and electrical constraints.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
5-10+ years of proven industry experience focusing strictly on optical/electro-optical system design, testing, and hardware development. Highly hands-on
Deep experience building test benches from scratch using lasers, LEDs, integrating spheres, beam profilers, spectrometers, detectors, and precision optomechanics.
Proven track record of managing optical vendors, conducting site visits, and transitioning complex optical modules from R&D into High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM).
Exceptional ability to document complex technical processes. Must be able to write clear, unambiguous specifications, test definitions, and engineering reports that leave no room for misinterpretation by global manufacturing partners.
Strong analytical programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or JMP) for automating data collection from lab equipment and analyzing large optical datasets.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of defending optical.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in specialized areas such as AR/VR/MR displays, LiDAR, depth sensing (ToF/Structured Light), micro-optics, or advanced computational photography.
Direct experience bringing up optical mass-production lines at tier-1 global contract manufacturers in Asia.
Familiarity with the effects of thermals, structural stress, and environmental reliability testing on precision optical module performance.
This position is open to all candidates.
