What youll do:
Take a leadership role in achieving team goals, contributing to the overall design, architecture, development, quality, and production deployment of the team's systems.
Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, ensuring high-quality results that may be consumed by other teams.
Collaborate effectively within your team and with cross-functional partners, such as Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and other R&D teams, representing your team as needed.
Maintain and improve the team's engineering practices, suggesting and implementing technology, patterns, or process enhancements.
Proactively identify areas of improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability.
Lead by example in code quality, contributing significantly to code reviews and acting as a focal point for engineering excellence questions.
Help monitor production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.

As a Senior Media Processing Backend Engineer, youll be part of Image team, working side by side with frontend and backend engineers. Youll contribute to feature development, code maintenance, and the operation of hundreds of production cloud servers.

The team is responsible for the core of main product. This includes the image transformation engines that process billions of requests per month (thousands of requests per second) and support all applications. Trusted by the worlds largest brands, our systems deliver high-fidelity media through flexible transformations with low bandwidth consumption and minimal latency.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain main transformation services in Ruby on Rails.
Optimize system workload, time, and cost.
Develop custom transformations using building blocks from the research group, open source, or commercial solutions.
Contribute to the ongoing development of our Deep Learning platform, mainly in Python.
Provide 2nd-tier support for our code and participate in team and company-wide on-call rotations.
Address internal customer inquiries and complex questions.
Maintain and update image processing pipelines, including open source, commercial, and in-house. Mainly C++
Technologies
Youll develop in Ruby on Rails, C++, Python, Go, Typescript, and a bit of Rust, leveraging AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Lambda infrastructure.
You will work closely with both in-house and open-source processing tools, such as FFmpeg and ImageMagick.
