Required Senior Product Manager - API
Why is this role so important
As Senior Product Manager, API, you will own the products that power how customers and AI applications access our data: our REST APIs, Batch APIs and our new MCP Server for AI agents.
You will be responsible for shaping the strategy, execution, and developer experience across these surfaces. Your work will define how data driven teams, partners, and AI agents discover, query and operationalize our digital intelligence at scale.
This is a highly visible and strategic role at the intersection of product, engineering, data and our global customer base.
About the team
You will join our AI & Data as a Service group, the team that owns our external data delivery. We operate like a startup inside a public company: fast paced, highly collaborative, and obsessed with impact.
You will partner closely with:
Backend and data engineering teams who build and scale our APIs
AI and data science teams who use MCP and APIs to power agentic workflows
Sales, Solutions, and Customer Success who bring customer needs and use cases
Together, you will turn our unique dataset into an essential data layer for both customers and AI ecosystems.
So, what will you be doing all day
Lead an AI first API product strategy
Define and own the long term vision and roadmap for REST API, Batch API and MCP Server, aligned with our AI first strategy
Position Similarus web as the data layer for AI driven growth, with APIs and MCP that serve both human developers and AI agents
Identify high value AI and agentic use cases and translate them into concrete API and MCP capabilities
Define success metrics for AI ready data delivery, such as relevance, reliability, latency and developer adoption.
Requirements: Must haves
5+ years of product management experience, including meaningful ownership of client facing APIs for external developers
Proven track record of shipping and growing developer facing products, with measurable impact on adoption, usage and retention
Strong technical understanding of API design and architecture: REST, HTTP, authentication, versioning, rate limiting, and data modeling
Experience working closely with backend engineers and data teams, comfortable discussing trade offs around scalability, performance and reliability
Demonstrated ability to own a product roadmap end to end, from discovery and strategy to delivery and iteration, in a SaaS or data platform environment
Excellent communication skills in English, capable of explaining technical concepts to non technical stakeholders and translating business needs into technical requirements
Deep empathy for developers and technical customers, including experience gathering their feedback and turning it into product improvements
It is a plus if you have:
Experience with data platforms, analytics products, or Data as a Service offerings, especially at scale
Hands on experience working with APIs as a user, using tools like Postman, curl or custom scripts to explore and validate endpoints
Familiarity with cloud data integrations such as AWS S3, Snowflake, and similar data sharing mechanisms
Big advantages:
Background working on AI or ML powered products where APIs served as core building blocks
Experience designing APIs and schemas specifically for LLM or agentic consumption, including concepts like RAG, vector search, and evaluation of AI powered experiences
And if you have any of these, boom:
Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar standards for connecting AI agents to tools and data
Deep familiarity with developer experience best practices, developer portals, SDK ecosystems and metrics such as time to integration and developer NPS
Prior experience as a software engineer or writing production code, especially in backend or data engineering environments
Exposure to SEO, digital marketing, competitive intelligence, or adjacent domains where our data is heavily used.
This position is open to all candidates.
