We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team and report directly to the COO.

The Team leader will manage all Engineering activities, employees, and projects, ranging from Design Transfer and cost reduction to production stability.

The Team leader will be a significant member of the Operations management team.

Job Description:

1. Manages the day-to-day activities of the Engineering team as well as the management and execution of teams projects against project plans and company goals.

2. Provides guidance and direction, as well as hands-on resource and project management, for all Engineering activities.

3. Optimizes the manufacturing lines, continuously support and improve efficiency, quality, and safety.

4. Analyse and resolve process issues, ensuring consistent and reliable production output.

5. Organize manufacturing validation activities for new and existing products to ensure product specifications and procedures are achieved.

6. Lead investigations of manufacturing deviations (NCMR) and process failures and identify root causes that will lead to applicable corrective actions.

7. Work closely with R&D on product deviations investigations and troubleshooting resulted from the production line.

8. Extending process and product Engineering controls to outsourced manufacturing of administration sets (single use sterile products), ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.

9. Managing design transfer processes from design freeze to the implementation of stable and validated production line.

10. Lead Engineering changes (ECO) and process experiments.

11. Provide guidance on the Engineering workshop activities, including equipment/ fixtures (Jigs) purchasing, calibration and maintenance.

12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to implement process corrective actions and improvements.

13. Supporting the Quality and production departments as needed.

14. Proactively leads cost reduction initiatives and supports operational excellence projects.

Responsibilities: · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop new design concepts. · Utilize SolidWorks or similar CAD software to create detailed mechanical designs, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability. · Perform detailed plastic part design, considering factors like material selection, injection moulding processes, and structural integrity. · Create electro-mechanical and mechanical assemblies, that meet the required torque, force, speed, reliability, safety and cost. · Design parts and assemblies for both domestic and agricultural use. Meeting requirements for Ingress Protection, UV, Impact resistance, Temperature, Humidity, chemical resistance, and corrosion resistance. · Design for manual assembly and/or automation - using Design for Assembly tools to analysis assembly efficiency · Manage, communicate and prioritise risks using an FMEA. · Create technical specifications, test plans, acceptance criteria and work breakdowns. · Utilize SolidWorks Simulation or equivalent tools to evaluate the performance and structural integrity of designs, including static stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and mould flow. · Apply statistical techniques and tools, with Minitab, excel or other, to analyse data to understand and improve product performance, reliability and quality. · Employ statistical methods, such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and tolerance analysis, to optimize development testing and design. · Develop a broad understanding and hands-on experience with various manufacturing processes and technologies, including ultrasonic welding, laser marking, laser welding, design for assembly, and joining technologies (e.g., clip and snap fits). · Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless transition from design to production, addressing any manufacturing challenges or issues that arise. · Prepare design reviews, provide technical input, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the design processes and methodologies. · Perform prototyping, testing and other empirical analysis.

Utilize findings to improve DRS competitive offerings, initiate development of new capabilities and inform strategic decisions.
Programs Technical Documentation
Maintaining program technical documentation (Specifications, Design Documents, Interface Control Documents, etc.)
Manage the development and delivery of technical manuals and training to the customer
Program Management Support:
Interpret and communicate the technical aspects of projects or requests to Program Managers.
Oversee the delivery process.
Manage the technical aspects of 3rd party development programs.
System Integration and Deployment:
Lead the integration processes with customers and external systems.
Manage the fielding phase, including user acceptance tests, installation, and evaluation processes.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with DRS internal teams to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
