We're looking for a WordPress Web Development Team Lead to own the development and delivery of all our organization's web properties. This is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of technical project management, team leadership, and hands-on development - ideal for someone who loves both building things and getting things shipped on time, the right way.
You'll lead a small team of developers, run the sprint cycle, interface with stakeholders across the org, and still get your hands dirty in code. You'll also be expected to work smart, leveraging AI-assisted development tools as a core part of your workflow, not an afterthought.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a small team of developers, conducting code reviews and setting technical standards
Foster a collaborative, accountable team culture with clear ownership
Unblock your team and remove friction so they can do their best work
Technical Project Management
Own the teams sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery cadence
Write clear specs, technical requirements, and implementation briefs
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, translating business needs into technical scope
Proactively communicate timelines, risks, and progress
Hands-On Development
Contribute directly to WordPress/Gutenberg development alongside the team
Build and maintain custom WordPress blocks, themes, and plugins as needed
Ensure code quality, performance, and accessibility standards across all WordPress properties
Leverage AI dev tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) effectively to accelerate delivery and raise the bar
Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in web development, with meaningful time in a lead or senior individual contributor role.
Strong WordPress expertise in custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, plugin development, and the WordPress ecosystem at large.
Experience in a multi-site or enterprise WordPress environment.
Proficiency in JavaScript, React, HTML/CSS, and SQL.
Proficiency with Git workflows.
Experience managing sprints and working in agile environments.
Proven ability to write specs and requirements and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent).
Strong communicator who can context-switch between code and conversation.
This position is open to all candidates.
