This role is for a talented technical leader to manage the team responsible for pre-silicon simulation, early silicon support, and development of the boot-loader, device drivers, and platform software for future generations of Apple devices. Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of highly-skilled embedded software engineers.
Define technical strategy and roadmap for early silicon enablement, pre-silicon validation, and core boot-loader development.
Drive cross-functional collaboration with Silicon Design, Hardware Engineering, and OS teams to ensure cohesive system integration and on-time delivery of platform features.
Manage execution and track project progress, ensuring the team delivers proven, high-quality work on tight, product-driven schedules.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for critical platform bring-up issues, providing hands-on architectural and troubleshooting guidance to the team.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, critical thinking, and continuous improvement within the team.
Conduct performance reviews, hiring, and resource allocation to meet organizational goals.
Requirements: A genuine passion for embedded development and technical leadership.
Vast understanding of how computer systems work, boot, and execute code, with the ability to translate this knowledge into project plans and team execution.
Previous experience as a senior or staff engineer with extensive, hands-on development and troubleshooting of boot-loaders and low-level device drivers.
Expert knowledge of hardware platforms & processor architectures, with previous exposure to hardware/processor simulation.
Highly proficient in C/C++.
Proven people management or technical leadership experience, including setting priorities, managing scope, and mentoring junior/senior engineers.
Exceptional collaborative and communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and manage relationships with local and international Silicon Design and Hardware Engineering teams.
Masters (preferred) or Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of ARM and RISC-V assembly is a plus.
Experience with JTAG and other debuggers in a leadership or senior role.
Prior experience managing the full lifecycle of an embedded product from pre-silicon to mass production.
