As a Technical Writer, youll play a critical role in bridging our engineering and customer-facing teams by creating clear, accurate, and comprehensive content aimed mainly at platform engineers. Your work will directly impact customers who rely on our platform by empowering them to maximize their productivity and improve their workflows.

Youll take part in the creation, maintenance, and evolution of Ports documentation and knowledge base, shaping one of the first experiences users meet when they deploy and use the product.



What Youll Do

Document New Features and Updates: Partner with engineering and product teams to craft high-quality technical documentation for new and existing features. Youll help translate complex technical information into clear, developer-friendly documentation.
Add and Maintain API Documentation: Take part in maintaining the API documentation to ensure its comprehensive, up-to-date, and accessible, providing essential support for developers who integrate with our platform.
Lead wide-scale initiatives to improve internal & external processes, with or without agentic/AI-based workflows.
Write Guides and Tutorials: Write tutorials, how-to guides, and user manuals that support developers in effectively leveraging Ports capabilities.
Write User-Centered Documentation: Work with other teams to gather insights directly from users and developers to understand their needs and pain points, ensuring that the documentation meets real-world use cases and aids in seamless onboarding and usage.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, developers, and customer support to ensure the accuracy and quality of all documentation, while identifying opportunities to enhance clarity and usability.
Communicate the Port brand: ensure consistency and accuracy across all product documentation.
Requirements:
3-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in the software or tech industry, with experience documenting technical products.
Strong technical proficiency and ability to understand and communicate complex engineering concepts, while adhering to Ports writing style.
Proficiency with Git and Markdown.
Fluency in English.
Familiarity with AI agents and/or agentic workflows, especially for content creation.
Experience with API documentation and tools like Swagger, Postman, or similar.
Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and support teams.

The PTE (Product Technical Enablement) team is globally distributed. We are technical writers and instructional designers who create documentation and eLearning to support our product portfolio. We are passionate about learning new software and sharing that knowledge with others. We are driven by finding new ways to develop the right content people need to use the products, services, and solutions we help to build.

Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated technical writer who will take end-to-end responsibility for some of our product areas.

Own end‑to‑end documentation delivery for assigned product areas, ensuring content is accurate, complete, consistent, and delivered on schedule.
Partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to gather information, validate accuracy, and deeply understand product/feature capabilities.
Lead the full content development lifecycle, including scoping, analysis, information architecture, drafting, technical validation, editing, and publication.
Stay tightly aligned with feature and release development, proactively identifying documentation scope, risks, and dependencies.
Actively use AI-assisted tools throughout the documentation authoring lifecycle to accelerate content creation, improve quality, and increase efficiency.

Requirements:
4+ years of technical writing experience in a large software company, SaaS, or enterprise technology environment.
Proficiency with industry standard documentation tools and source control, specifically MadCap Flare and GitHub.
Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating with PM, Dev, QA, and UX teams.
Demonstrated experience with structured authoring (e.g., topic-based writing) and reusable content strategy.
Knowledge and experience using AI tools to assist during the content authoring lifecycle.
Expertise applying style guides, terminology standards, and accessibility guidelines.
Experience reviewing UI text and collaborating on UX writing, aligning terminology, and improving user guidance.
Detail‑oriented mindset, with a strong focus on accuracy and technical precision.
Self-motivated and proactive, with strong organizational, stakeholder management, and time management skills.
