Required Engineering Director, Editor Platform
Description
The Mission
We are redefining the professional media workflow. While recording is our foundation, the Editor is our future. We are building a world-class, browser-based non-linear editor (NLE) that rivals desktop performance.
In this role, you will own the Editing platform end-to-end. This isn't just about UI components; its about managing a high-performance rendering engine, low-latency real-time synchronization, and a complex distributed backend. You will lead multiple teams of specialized engineers to push the boundaries of what is possible in a web environment.
The Technical Challenge
High-Performance Rendering: We are moving away from standard DOM-heavy video playback. You will oversee the evolution of our rendering pipeline using WebAssembly (WASM), OpenGL/WebGL, and GPU-accelerated processing to ensure frame-accurate editing of 4K media.
Complex Backend Systems: Our backend handles more than just API calls. You will lead the architecture of a real-time, event-sourced system designed to handle complex state mutations across collaborative editing sessions.
AI Integration: Seamlessly embedding generative AI and automated post-production tools directly into the rendering loop without compromising performance.
Architectural Leadership: You will remain deeply hands-on, capable of conducting deep-dive code reviews in C++ or TypeScript, and making high-stakes decisions on memory management and execution threads in the browser.
On Your Day-to-Day
Own the Editor Roadmap: Drive the technical vision for the Editor, balancing the delivery of cutting-edge features with the necessity of architectural refactoring.
Scale the Org: Lead, mentor, and grow multiple team leads and senior individual contributors. You are responsible for the "engineering bar."
Solve the "Hard Parts": Navigate the complexities of browser-side resource constraints, multi-threading in WASM, and synchronizing distributed state in a high-concurrency environment.
Pragmatic Execution: Bridge the gap between "bleeding-edge research" and "production-ready stability," ensuring we ship fast without breaking the user experience.
Requirements: What Will Make You Stand Out?
Leadership Depth: 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, with at least 2+ years managing other Team Leads or Engineering Managers.
Systems Expertise: A proven track record of building and scaling complex SaaS web applications. Experience with Media/Audio/Video pipelines is a massive advantage.
Deep Technical Fluency: You speak the language of Event Sourcing, distributed systems, and real-time state synchronization.
The "Low-Level" Edge: * Highly Desirable: Experience (or deep interest) in C++, Rust, or WebAssembly.
Highly Desirable: Knowledge of Graphics Rendering (OpenGL, WebGL, shaders, or GPU compute).
Hands-on Mentor: You still love to get into the weeds of an architectural diagram or a tricky performance bottleneck.
Our Stack Highlights
Frontend: React, TypeScript, WebAssembly (WASM), WebGL/OpenGL.
Backend: Node.js, Event Sourcing, Real-time WebSockets, Distributed Microservices.
Infrastructure: High-performance media processing clusters, GPU-accelerated cloud rendering.
This position is open to all candidates.
