A rapidly growing AI robotics startup is looking for a Director of Computer Vision AI to lead its core R D efforts and build production-ready vision technologies. This role combines deep hands-on technical leadership with strategic ownership over architecture, roadmap, and team growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and expand the Computer Vision AI R D function
Define and own the technical vision, system architecture, and long-term roadmap
Remain hands-on with algorithm development, coding, and advanced problem-solving
Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing R D team
Work closely with the CEO and product leadership to align strategy and execution
Deliver scalable, robust Computer Vision solutions for real-world, industrial environments
Requirements: Proven track record in building and scaling small, high-impact R D teams
Deep expertise in Computer Vision, AI, algorithms, and system design
Strong hands-on technical leadership with a passion for innovation and coding
Experience developing software for industrial or regulated environments (e.g., medical, defense, automotive, electronics)
Startup-oriented mindset with strong ownership and execution focus
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
7+ years of progressive experience in R D and technical leadership roles
