We are seeking a Carbon Program Specialist to oversee the standard-related, technical, and data-driven aspects of our carbon program.
The ideal candidate will ensure data accuracy and methodological integrity across all stages from soil sampling and lab analysis to quantification of soil carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, through to submission and verification with Verra.
This role requires maintaining the programs full alignment with the latest methodology updates, while proactively identifying and closing data gaps through close collaboration with teammates, partners, and laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the internal Verra and carbon offset/inset methodology expert, including ongoing monitoring of updates, methodological revisions, and guidance issued by Verra. Proactively engage with Verra and peer working groups to influence updates and the evolution of the methodology.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for soil sampling, handling, and laboratory analysis.
Align all laboratory and partner operations with QA/QC requirements.
Lead the preparation of Monitoring Reports and coordinate reviews and findings with Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) and Verra.
Build partnerships with laboratories, research institutions, and digital solution providers to strengthen methodological robustness.
Integrate advanced tools to streamline and validate data inputs.
Collaborate with agronomists, MRV teams, and technology partners to ensure accurate quantification of soil carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Requirements: Masters degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-4 years experience in carbon project development under Verra or similar standards strong advantage.
Strong knowledge of soil carbon measurement, GHG accounting, and MRV systems strong advantage.
Experience in developing SOPs, managing lab QA/QC, and verifying data.
Experience in data analysis.
Familiarity with data modeling, integration, and AI/GenAI tools.
Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
High level of English proficiency, both written and spoken.
