Located in the Public Diplomacy Section (PD) at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, this position is the local staff coordinator for all speaker programs and advisor on the development of strategic country-wide PD outreach to Israeli thought leaders and institutions. Incumbent develops strategies and tactics that promote mutual understanding and a greater appreciation of U.S. foreign policy, democracy and American society and values and serves as the responsible PD local staff member for developing and implementing outreach to top-level academics, university audiences, think tanks, policy advisors and opinion leaders.
EDUCATION: A university bachelor’s degree in political science, Middle Eastern studies, American Studies, international relations, sociology, economics, or liberal arts is required. (Copy of the certification must be provided with the application.)
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in program planning, and execution, reporting and speech writing.
LANGUAGES: Fluency in spoken, reading, and written English and Hebrew is mandatory. (This will be tested.)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Outstanding writing skills to draft complex reports and correspondence with minimal editing. Ability to conduct independent research. Standard computer skills and experience with social media. Must possess driver’s license. Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and schedules and be available to perform duties over the holidays and weekends.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of U.S. and Israeli government, particularly major U.S. and Israeli institutions, political parties, opinion leaders, and key figures in think tanks, government, cultural, and educational circles.
